Our new cattle & horse barn with a hay storage shed

Our new Cattle & Horse Barn – Built for Maximum Animal Welfare

To ensure we can continue offering you a wide variety of high-quality products from our own farm in the future, we have built a new barn for our animals. This modern open-front cold barn with outdoor access for our cows and oxen was constructed according to the latest organic farming standards, giving the animals plenty of freedom to move around on a soft straw-bedded area.

A natural ventilation system ensures an optimal indoor climate, while a large skylight strip in the roof structure brings plenty of natural daylight into the animals' living space. Alongside their staple feed - hay - both are vital for the vitality and health of our cattle. The straw bedding is automatically cleaned and freshly littered several times a day—concrete lying areas, rubber mats, or slatted floors do not exist in our barn.

Pure Hay Feeding Instead of Silage and Concentrate
Feeding is handled by an automatic feed dispenser that supplies the animals with the exact right amount of fragrant hay several times a day. The dispenser refills itself automatically from the feed bunker, meaning manual intervention is only necessary in exceptional cases. The bunker itself is conveniently loaded every few days using a hay crane directly from our large hay storage hall. We consciously avoid silage and concentrated feed—even if this reduces yield in favor of animal welfare and superior meat quality.

Horse Stalls & Insights for Our Guests
In addition to the loose housing barn for the cattle, the new building also houses several horse stalls with paddocks, as well as rooms for equipment and modern barn technology. The horse stalls can be rented both by our guests for their own horses during their vacation and for permanent boarding. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us!

Via a walk-on bridge that leads directly above the stalls, you as our guest have the opportunity to experience our everyday farm life up close. Farmer Franz looks forward to personally showing you around the new barn and explaining his daily work with the animals!

Where to Find the New Barn
For everyone already familiar with Feriendorf Ponyhof: The new barn connects directly to the existing indoor riding arena and is easily accessible for all guests. The old barn and previous stable will remain largely unchanged for the time being—their future use remains to be seen.
